FRIENDS FROM THE PEN
Please consider meeting and falling in love with one of these fabulous Friends from
the Pen!
Working with professional animal trainer Roy Hayes, inmates live with
and provide obedience training to dogs sponsored by participating shelters and rescue organizations. After
eight weeks of training, dogs are available for adoption.
All dogs have current vaccinations, spay or neuter,
and eight weeks of obedience training. They are ready to be released into the arms of a forever family. Mohave CARE-Net and Management and Training Corporation (MTC) have partnered
to implement a Prison Dog Program at the Arizona Department of Correction State Prison - Kingman, AZ. This program saves lives
of dogs at risk of euthanasia. Please
contact Roy Hayes at (928) 897-9494 for more information.
YOU SAVE ME Friends From The Pen 10, WAS Another BIG
SUCCESS. Twenty dedicated inmates have trained and rehabilatated
ten wonderful companion dogs, that have been released for good behavior. Seven of the ten dogs went to a forever home on Graduation Day, I would like to Thank
everyone who has adopted a FFTP Dog, and offer a free training class at PETCO,
or the Western Arizona Humane Society Kingman. Please take ADVANTAGE of these classes; continued training is necessary for a successful acclamation into a
new Home.
Help us continue the success by adopting one of the
Friends From The Pen Dogs, and PLEASE help us get the word out; and if
you can? donate to CARE-Net.
Thank You Roy Hayes Co-President/Dog Trainer

FRIENDS FROM THE PEN #11 Here we go again. One last chance for these dogs to find redemption.
They need your compassion, help and suport now.
Eight dogs are from Western Arizona Humane Society Kingman,
& Lake Havasu and one each from H.A.L.T. in Kingman and For the Luv of PAWS in Golden Valley, all are 501c3 not for profit
shelters: and are members of Mohave CARE-Net.
Week 4 All of the dogs are doing great. We have
a lot of new handlers, everything is going smoothly. The new and vintage handlers are as excited as I am, to the
new Program. I will keep you informed as we progress. .
Week three has come and gone, to my surprise (not
really) Abel has made a big turn around; look at the pictures from the first two weeks and look at the pictures from
today, what a difference! His Handlers have done a great job so far. This week we did a Behavior
Profile on each dog, next week I will post the details.
We are always looking for ways to get the word out about
Friends From the Pen, below is a link you can go to for a flier you can print,
send to friends or post. Thank you for your support. Roy Hayes
Friends From The Pen Flier
We are in our secound week
of training right now, the trainers are working on building trust and a bond with the dogs, I wish you could see
the change in the dogs and Inmates.
I've
done this ten times; you think it would get old after awhile, not for me! I'm inspired every week by the accomplishments
of the Trainers and the Staff at the prison; both have embraced this program with unbridled passion to accomplish a goal worthy
of great merit. .
Every Wednesday we have a formal obedience training session, at this
time the handlers and dogs are evaluated on their progress; If needed, changes are made. We are very flexable and
do whatever is best for the dogs. All the dogs learn to Sit, Down, Heel, Come and Release.
We look forward to seeing you at Open House March 24th and Graduation April
7, 2010 @ 1pm.
